Andie Day, Principal

Case Study 02

"We met Andie when we were looking to remodel our master bathroom and our kitchen. First, she and her team visited us in our home. While we thought we would do our kitchen remodel first, Andie took one look at our master bathroom and realized that it was a health hazard. We had serious water damage in the ceiling and the floor. With that, Andie asked us what we wanted our bathroom to look like. The master bath is long and narrow. It seemed to us there was not much anyone could do. We asked Andie to brighten the room up, make it look wider if possible and modernize the cabinetry and fixtures. With that, she took pictures, measurements and began designing. Andie and I “went shopping” for tile, cabinets and bathroom fixtures. She would suggest. I would decide. She kept me within budget, always suggesting a higher quality item whenever possible. When we sat down for the review of the initial design, Andie astounded us.

Her design was beautiful, modern and addressed every issue we had given her. The room was going to look modern, wider and bright. The tile lay out was amazing. By using mirrors and pulling the cabinets up above the floor, she widened the room visually. As Andie carefully explained every step of the process, we approved each page, signed the contracts and provided the deposits without a moment’s hesitation. When the materials arrived and the work began, Andie was in contact every day. If I had a question, she responded immediately. If I wanted something changed, she listened careful and discussed the pros and cons with me. In the end, the decision was always ours to make, and she made the changes when necessary. When the work was completed, which it was on time and professionally, we had the bathroom we had dreamed of, had added new carpeting and paint to the master bedroom as well with Andie’s help, of course. Now it was time to do the kitchen. We had a very large, poorly laid out kitchen space, especially for an individual who entertains groups of 50 or more on a regular basis.

Once again, Andie asked us what we needed from our kitchen. This time the list was very long: A double oven, 6 burner cook top, a deep double sink, more counter space, more storage space, a granite countertop, a marble countertop for baking, hardwood flooring, a more open looking space, and on and on. Again, out came the camera and the tape measure. Andie went back to the drawing board, but you can almost hear the wheels turning in her head as she walks around and listens to your needs. She sent us off to do some homework. “Visit the appliance store and check out this line of cook tops, these ovens, and this refrigerator.” At last, the moment came for us to visit her and see the design. Once again, we were astounded. Everything we asked for she (PSV Design) gave us, and more. She chose the colors, the tiles, the cabinetry and hardware based on knowing what we had liked for our bathroom. She had read us exactly. Everything was of the highest quality our budget would allow. It was absolutely perfect. The one argument my husband and I had was over the need for a warming drawer that Andie had recommended. It is now the most used item in the kitchen!

As with the bathroom, Andie took us systematically through each phase of the design and the ordering process. We initialed each page, signed the contracts, provided the down payments and walked away happy. During the installation process, Andie (PSV Design) was always available by phone and if there was a problem of any size, she handled it immediately. Both the contractor and I relied on her for assistance throughout the project, even for matters that I am sure are not within the purview of a kitchen designer. She knows every aspect of this business as well as anyone I have ever met. The contractors, subcontractors, and tradesmen all have enormous respect for Andie, which in my opinion says more than I can about her. I would use Andie Day again in a heartbeat. I am hoping we move to another home that will need a kitchen upgrade, not because I want to go through the process again, but because I would love to work with Andie again. Andie is a consummate professional who is passionate about her craft.

She is excellent at what she does. Her attention to detail, her follow through, and her knowledge of the business are unparalleled. Most importantly, her talent for listening to her clients and delivering a product that is exactly what they are looking for while staying in budget paired with her expertise at patiently explaining every step of an overwhelming process to her agitated clients makes her a customer’s dream. I not only would recommend her, I DO recommend her to everyone I know who is thinking about redoing any room in their home. It has been a privilege working with Andie and watching her grow her business. I am sure she is going to become one of the number one kitchen designers in America very soon. I will happily and proudly say, “I knew her when.”"
